Dental Convention – 2016 Rocky Mountain Mid-Winter Dental Convention

2016 Mid-Winter Dental Convention

Attending the Rocky Mountain Dental Convention is something my staff and I try to do each year.  This year’s convention, affectionately known as the 2016 Mid-Winter Dental Convention, took place last Thursday and Friday in Denver.  We were fortunate that the entire staff was able to attend.  The convention draws dental professionals from all over the state as well as from neighboring states.  It provides opportunities to attend lectures, view exhibits of the latest products and equipment, and to network with other providers.  We have recently added a diode laser to our array of treatment options.  One of the best sessions my hygienists and I  attended was an informative lecture on the use of lasers for periodontal treatment.   It was a fun and productive two days for everyone.

Chicago Conferences

2015.ChicagoContinuing dental education is important to me, which is why I participate in several study groups and try to attend dental conferences each year. The last weekend in February I traveled to Chicago to attend to two such conferences, one for the Academy of Operative Dentistry and one for The American Academy of Restorative Dentistry. Each conference, attended by several hundred dental professionals, lasted two days and featured speakers on subjects ranging from implants to new materials to patient care. Both meetings concluded with table clinics, which allow for small group interaction and a more intimate learning experience. It proved to be four very informative and interesting days.

Another Dental Field Trip – Apex Endodontics

Dr. Albers with Dr. Boss and Dr. Corr

I try to take the time to visit dental specialist offices to keep up with the latest techniques they are utilizing.  Recently, it was time for a dental field trip at Apex Endodontics, visiting with Dr. Rob Corr and Dr. Tyler Boss about the latest instrumentation and techniques regarding root canals. While I perform the majority of root canals our patients need at our office, some are so complicated that we refer them to specialists in the procedure. Thanks to Drs. Corr and Boss and their staff for hosting me.

Observing at Dr. Onstad’s office.

I try to spend time with specialists to whom I refer so that I can stay up-to-date on the latest techniques they use when they see patients I refer to them.  Last Friday, I spent the morning at  Associates in Maxillofacial & Oral Surgery shadowing Dr. Mike Onstad, an Oral Surgeon with whom I have worked for many years.  Thank you to Dr. Onstad and his staff for hosting me.

Chicago 2014

From February 20 – 23, I attended Annual Meetings for the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry and the Academy of Operative Dentistry. These meetings provide opportunities to attend lectures and clinics, and to discuss current dental topics with dental professionals from around the country.
