Sensitive Teeth

Have you ever taken a bite of ice cream and had a sudden jolt of pain?  Most likely it’s just a short-lived reaction to a very cold substance in your mouth.  As noted in this article on sensitive teeth, however, sometimes a sensitive tooth suggests a more serious dental problem such as a cracked tooth or decay.  If you have problems in a specific tooth or area of the mouth that persist over time, this is something to have our office take a look at.  If you have a problem that goes away fairly quickly, it is still something to bring up with Dr. Albers and his hygiene team the next time you come in for a routine visit.

Chicago Conferences

2015.ChicagoContinuing dental education is important to me, which is why I participate in several study groups and try to attend dental conferences each year. The last weekend in February I traveled to Chicago to attend to two such conferences, one for the Academy of Operative Dentistry and one for The American Academy of Restorative Dentistry. Each conference, attended by several hundred dental professionals, lasted two days and featured speakers on subjects ranging from implants to new materials to patient care. Both meetings concluded with table clinics, which allow for small group interaction and a more intimate learning experience. It proved to be four very informative and interesting days.

Welcome back, Susan!

2015.SusanWe are so pleased to welcome Susan back to the office.  As you will see in her staff bio, she began working with Dr. Albers at a group practice in 1987.  She left that practice to help Dr. Albers when he decided to open his own practice and continued working with him until the birth of her daughter.  When Michele moved from assisting Dr. Albers to running the front desk, the time was right for Susan to return to the office.  Join us in welcoming her back!

2014 COMOM Clinic, Henderson, CO

Last Friday and Saturday, Jane, Michelle and I loaded up supplies and equipment and drove north to Henderson, CO (by Brighton) for the annual COMOM dental clinic.

From the COMOM site:  The COMOM mission is to provide quality dental services, at no cost, to individuals of all ages who cannot afford and access dental care; eliminating dental pain, promoting oral health, creating smiles, and providing oral health education.

Hundreds of dentists, assistants, hygienists, specialists, and lab personnel provided dental care to deserving Coloradans. A worthy cause and a rewarding time for us.

Another Dental Field Trip – Apex Endodontics

Dr. Albers with Dr. Boss and Dr. Corr

Dr. Boss, Dr. Albers, Dr. Corr

I try to take the time to visit dental specialist offices to keep up with the latest techniques they are utilizing.  Recently, it was time for a dental field trip at Apex Endodontics, visiting with Dr. Rob Corr and Dr. Tyler Boss about the latest instrumentation and techniques regarding root canals. While I perform the majority of root canals our patients need at our office, some are so complicated that we refer them to specialists in the procedure. Thanks to Drs. Corr and Boss and their staff for hosting me.
